YOTUS is a summer Socratic Seminar program founded with the purpose of engaging young students and encouraging them to be active and engaged members of the political process. The program was created by former Palm Desert High School students Alexander Nabavi-Noori and Matthew Levine shortly after high school where they both founded and ran the school’s most successful political group, the PDHS chapter of the Junior Statesmen of America for over 3 years. To learn more about them, go to our authors page. To learn about the materials our course covers, visit our syllabus page.
After our immense success in the Summer of 2014, Alexander and Matt are hard at work trying to create a brand new, even better version of the program for the Summer of 2015, so stay tuned! We are working with teachers in Palm Desert High School’s English, Social Science, and History departments to make this program the most beneficial for our students as possible.
In the meantime, take a look at our informational flyer from last year’s program (below) and read some of the blog posts from our Summer 2014 students, they made us very proud! Thank you all again for your hard work!
